Key Takeaways:

Wing, an Alphabet company, has launched drone delivery of gifts and takeout meals in Dallas-Fort Worth, partnering with DoorDash and Brookfield Properties.
The service operates from two shopping malls, Hulen Mall and Stonebriar Centre, offering products from over 50 merchants with deliveries as fast as 15 minutes.
This marks the first such service leveraging shopping malls as drone delivery hubs, building on Wing's existing partnerships with DoorDash in other markets.
The FAA has lifted key restrictions for Wing in Dallas-Fort Worth, enabling the company to manage its own airspace and replace visual observers with technology, further expanding delivery capabilities.

That’s not Santa’s sleigh carrying holiday gifts over Dallas-Fort Worth.

On Wednesday, Wing, a unit of Google parent Alphabet, launched drone delivery of last-minute presents and takeout meals from a pair of shopping malls in the Texas metropolis. The company believes the service—operated in partnership with food delivery app DoorDash and Brookfield Properties, which owns more than 130 retail locations across 39 states—is the first of its kind.
