Germany will buy nearly three dozen Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) 5th Generation F-35 Lightning II fighters as part of efforts to modernize its aging fighter fleet, German defense officials announced this week.

“The deal is sealed,” the German Embassy said Wednesday. “Germany will buy the F-35 fighter jets from the U.S.! The German parliament’s budget committee today approved the procurement of 35 of these state-of-the-art aircraft that will replace the Tornado fleet in 2026.”
