Key Takeaways:

Blockchain technology offers a secure, unalterable digital ledger that can significantly improve security and efficiency within the aviation industry.
It could modernize pilot and medical certificates, replacing outdated paper documents with tamper-proof digital records for easier, more reliable verification by the FAA and other parties.
Blockchain-based "cryptologs" would enhance the integrity of pilot flight hour and aircraft maintenance records, preventing fraud, ensuring data permanence, and simplifying verification for stakeholders.
The integration of blockchain is anticipated to make aviation more secure, streamline operations for pilots, and increase the effectiveness of regulatory bodies like the FAA.

We’ve told you that cryptocurrency is not an investment. But a blockchain—the underlying technology behind cryptocurrency—could help make life a lot easier for pilots.

What is a Blockchain?

It’s a ledger, made visible to the entire world, and stored on a wide network of computers. Some brilliant encryption protocols protect the integrity of all the data on the blockchain, making it inordinately difficult for someone to alter any records after they’ve been logged.
