Aircraft originally created for Brazilian Air Force celebrates significant milestone.

On Monday, Embraer announced that its worldwide fleet of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft has reached 500,000 flight hours.

While the aircraft was originally created for the Brazilian Air Force in 1999, it has been the choice of more than 15 air forces worldwide, including the United States Air Force (USAF), as well as several countries in Latin America, including Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic.

The A-29 can perform several different missions, including light attack, aerial surveillance and interception, and counterinsurgency and it can operate in remote locations and hostile enviornments with little support.

The aircraft is also used as an advanced trainer, since it can simulate combat missions and upload and download flight data.
