Seven years after ordering a new Air Force One jet from Boeing, and following several delays, President Donald Trump has reportedly gone airplane shopping elsewhere.

According to a Bloomberg report on Wednesday, Trump is considering buying a Qatari-owned 747-8. The report stated that on Feb. 15, the plane was flown overnight from Qatar to West Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump inspected it.

The tour lasted an hour and 12 minutes, according to the White House calendar

The plane, Bloomberg reported, was built in 2012 and delivered to Qatar Amiri Flight, which manages aircraft for the country’s ruling family. Since then, the luxury aircraft has been used by Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.

The report noted Al Thanis’ initials, HBJ, are featured in the 747’s registration number “P4-HBJ.”

Boeing delays have been the talk of the aviation industry since the company’s manufacturing was stunted by several controversies over safety practices dating back to January 2024.

The delays have had a particularly negative impact on airlines. American, among others, has blamed Boeing’s delays for more service cuts to its network this summer.
