Each day, the team at Aircraft For Sale picks an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, represents a good deal, or has other interesting qualities. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
Today’s Top Pick is a 1963 Cessna 205 Super Skywagon.
Cessna’s general aviation lineup was evolving quickly during the early 1960s as new models and developments of earlier ones made their debuts. One of those models was the 205, essentially a 182 with a fuselage stretched to accommodate six occupants.
The model is rare today because it was not in production for long before it evolved further to become the 206, which is largely differentiated from the 182. Known as a flying pickup truck or SUV, the 206 remains popular for pilots who routinely carry heavy loads and operate from short fields.
The aircraft for sale today offers buyers certain qualities associated with the 206 in an updated, economical package. This aircraft is a particularly practical way for pilots with larger families to carry six people into the air.

This 1963 Cessna 205 has 4,986 hours on the airframe, 100 hours since overhaul on its Continental IO-470-S engine, and 100 hours since overhaul on its McCauley two-blade propeller. The aircraft has a useful load of 1,265 pounds and is equipped with a Sportsman STOL kit with vortex generators, BAS shoulder harnesses, door stewards, and new carpets.
The panel includes a Garmin G5 with GAD 29 interface and GMU 11 magnetometer, Garmin GNC 355 GPS, Bendix King KLX 135A, uAvionix AV-30-c, JPI EDM 900 engine monitor, ACK Technologies E-04 406 MHz ELT, and Narco AT150 transponder.
Pilots looking for a heavy-lifting, utilitarian aircraft with six seats for family trips should consider this 1963 Cessna 205 Super Skywagon, which is available for $164,900 on AircraftForSale.
