At 2305 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged during a ditching in the Setauket Harbor. The flight instructor, student and one passenger received minor injuries. One passenger is missing and presumed to be fatally injured at this writing. Night visual conditions prevailed. While cruising at around 2000 feet msl, the engine sputtered. Turning on the electric fuel pump and switching the fuel selector to the left fuel tank stopped the sputtering. The flight chose to divert to an airport 10 nm south.

At 1715 Eastern time, the airplane experienced a total loss of engine power on initial climb. The pilot attempted to return to the airport but the airplane collided with trees, sustaining substantial damage. The private pilot and one passenger received serious injuries. Visual conditions prevailed.

At 1732 Eastern time, the airplane collided with a pole while landing, sustaining substantial damage. Visual conditions prevailed. The private pilot sustained serious injuries and a passenger sustained minor injuries. On arriving in the area, tower personnel instructed the pilot to enter a left downwind leg to Runway 4. These instructions were subsequently changed to a right downwind leg. A Gulfstream jet was cleared to land in front of him. He was then cleared to land and the airplane touched down on the main landing gear.

At about 0940 Pacific time, the airplane experienced a partial loss of engine power seconds after taking off. The pilot reversed course and made a forced landing back at the airport. The airplane touched down hard and came to rest with a collapsed nose gear and a broken wing. The commercial pilot was not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

At 1720 Eastern time, the airplane collided with a tree while making a forced landing following loss of engine power. The airplane incurred substantial damage and the pilot and passenger received serious injuries. Visual conditions prevailed; an IFR flight plan was filed. The pilot later stated the engine power “rolled back” while in cruise at 8000 feet msl and the propeller continued to windmill.

At about 1030 Mountain time, the airplane was substantially damaged upon impact with terrain following a loss of control while maneuvering. The private pilot, sole occupant of the airplane, was fatally injured. There were no reported witnesses to the accident.

At about 1030 Eastern time, the airplane collided with trees during takeoff. Visual conditions prevailed. The airplane was substantially damaged; the commercial pilot and sole occupant sustained minor injuries. The pilot later stated the auxiliary fuel pump was on for takeoff, and during the initial climb, the engine did not seem like it was developing full power. The flight continued past the departure end of the runway, over trees, clipped tops of them, then descended and impacted the ground.

At about 1345 Eastern daylight time, the airplane broke up in flight off the shore of Grand Bahamas, Bahamas. Visual conditions prevailed. The private pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The flight originated from the Grand Bahama International Airport, Freeport, Grand Bahamas at 1319.
