The Super Stallion heavy-lift helicopter was on a training flight when it went down late Tuesday in a remote area in Southern California.

The heavy-lift helicopter en route to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, was reported “overdue.”

Eighteen aircraft converged for a ‘flying the barn’ event marking the end of the combat aviation training squadron.
