Japan said it would suspend operations of its fleet of 14 Ospreys until the cause of the crash was clarified.

The Marine Corps has launched an investigation as it paused aviation operations for two days following the incident.

Teams continue to search for the fighter jet using ground and air assets, military officials said Monday.

The order comes days after three Marines were killed when an MV-22 Osprey went down in Australia during a training exercise.

The contract includes 27 aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps and eight for the Israeli Air Force.

Three U.S. Marines were killed in the incident and five left in serious condition, according to officials.

Five Marines were killed when the Osprey went down during a training exercise in Southern California in June 2022.

Only about half of the U.S. military’s fleet of F-35s are currently considered mission capable, according to defense officials.

Under the agreement, the eVTOL manufacturer will supply USAF with nine Joby electric air taxis.

A video of the incident showed the fighter hovering before landing, bouncing, then tipping over on its nose before the pilot ejected.
