At approximately 1430 Pacific time, an amateur-built Kitfox Lite Squared crashed near the southeast end of runway 13 at Homedale Municipal Airport. The pilot was not injured. The aircraft had received its temporary experimental airworthiness certificate on the morning of the accident, and this was to be its first flight. The pilot initiated the takeoff on runway 13 with a left quartering tailwind of at least 10 knots. The pilot said he did this to avoid taking off over a nearby residential area. At about 1830 eastern time, an unregistered KitFox airplane crashed in the traffic pattern at a private airstrip near Sprakers. The unlicensed pilot, who was killed, had just completed construction of the aircraft. A witness said they were performing taxi tests and fixed a minor squawk, after which the pilot said he was going to go for it. The airplane did four right traffic patterns, with rough engine sounds and severe pitch oscillations evident throughout. The first pattern was a low pass. At about 14:45 eastern time, a homebuilt Kitfox crashed while maneuvering over a residential area, killing both aboard. Witnesses said the airplane was circling at 15 to 20 feet above the trees and power lines with bank angles approaching 90 degrees. The owner of the airplane said the pilot had approximately 450 hours of total time, with 30 hours in make and model, including 22 in the accident airplane in the last 30 days….
