Firm connects users with third-party private carriers but is looking to launch an air taxi service with its own aircraft.

The FAA has issued a G-1 Certification Basis for the German air taxi firm’s seven-seater Lilium Jet.

The $25.5 million facility will be the electric air taxi startup’s headquarters for research and development work.

The proposed rule is the latest step toward advanced air mobility that has been under development since August.

Firm is continuing to progress toward profitability and eVTOL flights.

The firm recently completed the final assembly of its first Midnight aircraft.

‘If you’re looking for the code to the front door of the next generation of aviation, here it is,’ FAA chief Billy Nolen said.

Skyports and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority are aiming for development of a “network of vertiports for air taxi services” beginning in 2026.

Company plans to have FAA certification by late 2024 and launch service the next year.

Archer says its all-electric Midnight air taxis will cover the distance between the airport and a Manhattan heliport in less than 10 minutes.
