Key Takeaways:

  • EAA AirVenture achieved record attendance and aircraft movements, attracting over 550,000 attendees and more than 16,278 aircraft movements, making it the most successful in a decade.
  • Highlights included the debut of the Lockheed F-35, Airbus A350, and Goodyear's Wingfoot One airship, alongside diverse displays of vintage and modern aircraft and impressive formation flybys.
  • The only reported negative incident was the crash of an arriving Piper Malibu, which resulted in five injuries.
  • Next year's AirVenture is anticipated to be equally buzzworthy, with plans for Burt Rutan's SkiGull, the B-29 Doc's debut, and celebrations for the F-16 anniversary and Boeing's 100th year.

If you made the trip to Oshkosh this year for EAA AirVenture, nobody has to tell you how good it was. You and around 550,000 of your closest aviation-crazy friends lived airplanes day and night as the crowds at Wittman Regional Airport were inundated with the sights and sounds that only the big Wisconsin airshow can deliver.

And, boy, did Oshkosh ever deliver this time around. The weather was nearly perfect the entire week, attendance was the highest it’s been in a decade and there was an all-time record in terms of aircraft movements for the week at more than 16,278, according to EAA.
