Non-Profit Launches STEM Program Using MD-83

Gemini Sparkle

Key Takeaways:

Hoping to inspire elementary-aged kids to pursue aviation and aerospace-related careers, Missouri-based non-profit TriStar Experience has launched a STEM program using a fully restored MD-83 jet.

Wings of Pride, TriStar’s first operational jet aircraft, will be used in ground-based educational programs in schools, museums and within youth organizations to expose children in grades three through eight to a range topics including principles of flight, pre-flight inspection, airport operations, aviation related careers and competitions with student-built gliders.

The aircraft is being maintained in flyable condition and may eventually be used for flight-based educational programs.
