FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt has been tapped to deliver one of the keynote speeches at the upcoming Pilot Training Reform Symposium, to be hosted by the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) May 4 and 5 in Atlanta. Babbitt’s address, “Meeting the Training Challenges of the Second Century Of Flight,” is just one of dozens of speeches scheduled for the event that will highlight issues related to flight instruction.
Symposium organizers have assembled more than two dozen panelists and speakers from the general aviation industry, who are gathering to address the root causes behind decreasing student pilot starts, increasing student attrition, a flat-lined fatal accident rate and stagnated general aviation growth. A key goal of the symposium centers on developing an action plan to improve and modernize flight training. The event, to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Atlanta, is expected to be attended by hundreds of aviation experts and policy makers.
