Textron Aviation said its integrated terrain awareness and warning system (iTAWS) is now standard equipment on Collins Pro Line Fusion-equipped Beechcraft King Air 350i/ER turboprops. The new iTAWS works side by side with the Fusion’s synthetic vision system adding aural and visual warnings that appear on primary flight and multi-function cockpit displays. The integration effort also eliminated one more individual electronics box, as well as the associated wiring harnesses that held the earlier standalone TAWS systems.

Also new to the King Air 350i is multi-scan radar with turbulence detection that automatically detects short, mid and long-range weather. Optional mobile enablement allows wireless chart and flight plan uploads from an iPad via the ARINCDirect app, in addition to allowing the avionics to wirelessly receive and upload v-speeds.

Collins Pro Line Fusion for the King Air includes three 14-inch, high-resolution displays with Intuitive graphical touch-screen flight planning, a high resolution SVS and a dual multi-sensor, flight management systems with automatic flight plan upload capabilities.

While all new King Airs leave the factory equipped with Pro Line Fusion flight decks, the new integrated terrain and radar features haven’t yet made their way to the King Air 250, although Textron said they will in the near future.
