FBO Spotlight: Michigan Aviation (KPTK)

Flying reader Kenneth Sweet has nothing but words of praise for this Michigan FBO.

In our FBO Spotlight series, we’re highlighting FBOs around the country that have received rave reviews from our readers. This latest Spotlight is brought to you by Kenneth Sweet, who recently flew into Oakland County International Airport in a Piper Cherokee. Here’s what he has to say about one of the airport’s FBO, Michigan Aviation:

Michigan Aviation (KPTK)
Pontiac, Michigan

On a VFR Flight from GFL to C77, I ran into IMC weather conditions in SW Michigan. Made an unexpected evening landing at PTK. With the towers help, I attempted to find a tie down position. In the process of digging the tie downs out from the mud in the driving rain, the ground controller drove up and mentioned that Michigan Aviation called in to them and told them I would be welcome to tie down at their FBO and they would provide a courtesy car for the evening and help arrange a hotel. The controller led me to their location where the FBO ground crew met me. They provided a courtesy car, tied down the plane, arranged the hotel and gave me some pointers on local restaurants. The next day, when I was still socked in, they helped arrange a rental car and have been taking care of the Cherokee for the week after I sadly gave up and drove home. All this without any requirement for services or fuel. A great group, that made a difficult experience a breeze.
