Citation CJ3 Fusion Aftermarket Upgrade Certified

The Rockwell Collins integrated avionics system will make the CJ3 compliant with airspace modernization deadlines.

With the FAA’s ADB-S equipage deadline looming, and certainly “not changing,” Cessna Citation CJ3 owners have a solution to meet the mandate and gain even more capabilities. The FAA granted certification to the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics upgrade, and owners of the CJ3 business jet can now have the avionics system installed at any of Textron Aviation‘s 12 service centers throughout the United States, as well as Duncan Aviation‘s three main full-service facilities and some of its avionics satellite and workaway locations.

In addition to the upgrade fulfilling the FAA’s ADB-S requirements, which will go into effect on January 1, 2020, the Fusion upgrade is also compliant with WAAS/LPV. Rockwell Collins believes the flying experience will be transformed by the three 14.1-inch landscape touchscreen flight displays, high-resolution synthetic vision and touchscreen navigation, among other perks.

“The clock is ticking to get aircraft equipped for airspace modernization deadlines and this all-in-one alternative brings turn-key compliance for CJ3 operators with a modern interface and feature set found on new aircraft,” said Craig Olson, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. “Pilots will fall in love with this new flight deck after seeing how it makes the most complicated tasks simple, and the additional situational awareness it brings.”

Greater emphasis has been put on the touch-based options, including interactive maps and easy-to-use icons. The CJ3’s original flight management system control display units will no longer be necessary.

The first installation of the Fusion upgrade has already been completed by Duncan, while another 20 customers have purchased their upgrades.
