Eurocopter's first production EC175 medium-size, twin-turbine helicopter successfully completed its maiden flight, confirming handling and basic performance as it targets late-2013 certification.
Developed in cooperation with China's AVIC, the helicopter will be sold globally as the EC175 and in China as the Avicopter Z-15.
Powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67E engines and advanced Thales avionics, it offers a normal cruise speed of 150 knots.

With test pilot Augustin Dupuis at the controls, the flight confirmed handling characteristics and basic performance as Eurocopter advances the design toward a late-2013 certification goal.
