Eurocopter's first production EC175 medium-size, twin-turbine helicopter successfully completed its maiden flight in Marignane, France.
The flight confirmed the helicopter's handling and basic performance, advancing it toward a late-2013 certification goal and market introduction.
Developed in cooperation with China's AVIC, the EC175 features a 150-knot normal cruise speed, is powered by Pratt & Whitney engines, and will be sold as the EC175 globally and Avicopter Z-15 in China.

With test pilot Augustin Dupuis at the controls, the flight confirmed handling characteristics and basic performance as Eurocopter advances the design toward a late-2013 certification goal.
