Academy of Aviation

Boasting four separate campuses in Farmingdale, New York, White Plains, New York, Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, the Academy of Aviation (AOA) is a full-service flight school dedicated to churning out professional pilots. AOA is a Part 141 flight training program and has courses from private pilot all the way to MEI. The Farmingdale campus offers Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges-accredited and non-accredited courses, while the other three campuses offer only non-accredited courses.

Program Highlights

Each campus is located directly on an airport, giving students the convenience of a one-stop shop for ground courses and flight courses.

  • Farmingdale (KFRG)
  • White Plains (KHPN)
  • Atlanta (KFFC)
  • Charlotte (KAKH)

AOA offers courses solely for each rating/license. This gives flexibility to students wanting to learn to fly as a hobby or for a professional career.

Value

Because it’s a flight school-only program, the Academy of Aviation is able to offer competitive rates with no based tuition for academics. The all-in price for their professional pilot track is just over $75,000. The school also offers accelerated timelines allowing students to get from zero time to professional pilot (300-500 hours) in only five months.

Academy of Aviation accepts Sallie Mae student loans and it also offers in-house financing. Outside scholarships are also available for students who seek them out such as:

  • The Ninety-Nines
  • University Aviation Association (UAA)
  • Women in Aviation, International

AOA provides custom career coaching for veterans to ensure they are getting the most out of their benefits.

Fleet and Facilities

The Academy of Aviation prides itself in only flying late model aircraft for flight training.

The fleet consists of:

  • Diamond DA20s
  • Diamond DA42s
  • Cessnas 172s

A Redbird FMX flight simulator is also available for student use.

The Bottom Line

The Academy of Aviation is ideal for students looking to become a professional on a fast track and be on their way to charter or airlines quickly. Multiple campuses offer flexibility to students around the country and in-house financing gives students options when paying for school.
