Key Takeaways:

  • Michael Williamson is restoring a severely dilapidated 20,400 sq ft World War II-era hangar at Tullahoma Regional Airport, originally built in 1941 and vacant since the early 1990s.
  • The extensive renovation, currently 80% complete, will provide much-needed indoor storage for general aviation aircraft, addressing a severe regional shortage, and consolidate Williamson's aviation and manufacturing businesses.
  • Beyond its practical utility, the project actively preserves the hangar's historical significance, with Williamson successfully petitioning for its addition to the National Register of Historic Places.

In the seven-and-a-half decades since the war ended, the property at Tullahoma Regional Airport (KTHA) in Tennessee has fallen into disrepair. So much so that the current owner, Michael Williamson, once briefly thought about scrapping his plans of restoring the site.
