Eurocopter's first production EC175 medium-size helicopter successfully completed its maiden flight in Marignane, France, confirming its handling characteristics and basic performance.
The successful flight marks a significant step towards the EC175's late-2013 certification goal.
Developed in cooperation with China's AVIC, the helicopter boasts a normal cruise speed of 150 knots, powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67E engines and fitted with Thales avionics.
It will be marketed globally as the EC175 and as the Avicopter Z-15 in China.
