The 12th annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo kicks off today in Sebring, Florida, where pilots from northern climes are escaping the cold to the kick the tires of LSAs, experimental aircraft, ultralights and more.

Around 50 sport airplanes are on display through the weekend at Sebring Regional Airport, where temperatures today are on the cool side with warmer weather expected tomorrow and Friday.

A highlight the Expo will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., focusing on “The Present and Future of Personal Aviation.” Panelists will include moderator Jack Hodgson, of the Uncontrolled Airspace Podcast (UCAP) team, along with Charlie Becker, EAA Homebuilt Community Manager; Tom Bliss, publisher of AVweb; Paul Dye, editor of Kitplanes; Dan Johnson, president of the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association; and Les Smith, senior director, pilot community development for AOPA.

On Saturday, the UCAP team, including Hodgson, Jeb Burnside, and Dave Higdon, will host a podcast at 1:30 p.m. The trio of aviation journalists will welcome visitors questions and comments about GA.

AOPA will also host two of its Rusty Pilot Seminars at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and Saturday, giving lapsed pilots the opportunity to get current again.
