A Hawker 800 made an emergency gear up landing at Denver International Airport on Wednesday after circling for hours to troubleshoot the problem and burn off fuel. Video of the touchdown shown by Fox 31 Denver gives a good indication of just what the crew was dealing with as the belly of the business jet gently contacts the runway causing a shower of sparks.
None of the three passengers on board was injured as the jet careened across the runway. The airplane is reportedly partly owned by the Monfort family, which also owns the Colorado Rockies baseball team. No one from the family was aboard at the time of the incident, which closed one runway at KDIA as rescue vehicles surrounded the Hawker and put out a small fire.
