Redge Greenberg, an experienced pilot, successfully completed the first customer-assembled SubSonex jet (JSX0003) and performed its initial flight.
He assembled the jet from an "ultra-quick-build" kit, which minimizes customer work to installing key components like the engine, fuel system, and avionics.
Greenberg's SubSonex is only the third of its kind flying worldwide, allowing him to fulfill his long-held ambition to pilot a jet.
The SubSonex ultra-quick-build kit, including the PBS TJ-100 turbojet engine, is priced at $135,000.
Redge Greenberg, a pilot from Durango, Colorado, is one of the few people in the world ever to have built his own jet in his garage after completing the first customer-assembled SubSonex, serial number JSX0003.
“I flew the SubSonex this morning, for about 35 minutes…all went well,” Redge wrote to inform kit manufacturer Sonex Aircraft in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on October 15.
