A seasoned pilot experienced a severe airplane crash on August 19, 2024, shortly after takeoff, resulting in extensive injuries including a shattered hip, broken pelvis, and traumatic brain injury.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation concluded that the probable cause was a loss of lateral control due to water accumulation in the aircraft's wings, stemming from the critical oversight of not installing mandated drain grommets during the plane's restoration.
Despite significant physical and emotional recovery from the trauma, the pilot is committed to raising awareness about proper aircraft maintenance and safety protocols to prevent similar preventable accidents, while also hoping to return to flying.
