Key Takeaways:

  • Dubuque Regional Airport (KDBQ) lost daily air service in September 2022 when American Airlines ceased its Chicago O'Hare route, largely due to a national pilot shortage impacting regional carriers.
  • After the loss of daily service, Avelo offered less-than-daily, seasonal flights but ultimately canceled future plans citing increasing costs and aircraft availability issues.
  • Dubuque will regain scheduled daily air service starting November 4, 2024, with Denver Air Connection launching daily flights to Chicago O'Hare.
