Key Takeaways:

  • The Falcon 6X marks a significant departure for Dassault Aviation, embracing a "bigger is better" philosophy with its largest and most powerful business jet, prioritizing passenger comfort through a wider, taller, and quieter cabin.
  • Despite its increased size and weight, the aircraft achieves impressive agility and handling thanks to advanced fly-by-wire controls, innovative flaperons, and powerful Pratt & Whitney PW812D turbofans (following a redesign from the original Falcon 5X concept due to engine issues).
  • Equipped with sophisticated avionics, including the EASy IV system and FalconEye HUD, the 6X enhances pilot situational awareness and safety, offering a flexible operational range of up to 5,500 nm suitable for both long-haul and multi-leg short-haul missions.

“Bigger is better” is Dassault Aviation’s mantra for its next-generation business jets. And that was unmistakable when I walked up to the new Falcon 6X at the company flight test facility at Istres-Le Tubé Air Base (LFMI) west of Marseille. The aircraft looks positively plus-sized compared to its svelte predecessors, including Dassault’s current Falcon 8X flagship.
