Diamond Aircraft and Safran Electrical & Power have announced an agreement to provide an electric motor for the all-electric eDA40 training aircraft.

The companies propose that the aircraft will be the first FAA Part 23 certified electric aircraft with DC fast charging, capable of fully recharging within 20 minutes. According to Diamond, the total flight time of the eDA40 will be up to 90 minutes “as the battery technologies evolve.”
