Global business jet activity reached a record high in 2021 with 3.3 million flights, a 7% increase over 2019, driven by hygiene concerns and a shift from commercial travel.
The year saw peak activity during the holiday season, with global business jet flights increasing by 41% from December 20 to January 2 compared to two years prior.
The U.S. led North American growth, with 10% more traffic than in 2019, primarily fueled by fractional and charter flights, while Europe and other regions also experienced significant rebounds in business jet usage.
A new report says 2021 was the busiest year on record for global business jet activity.
The report released Thursday by WingX, a data research and consulting company that tracks the business aviation industry, says 3.3 million business jet flights took place in 2021. That’s a 7 percent increase over 2019, the year the report used as the most recent “normal” benchmark.
