An experimental Van's Aircraft RV-4 crashed in Chattahoochee, Florida, on October 31, killing the sole pilot aboard.
The aircraft departed Tallahassee International Airport and was airborne for approximately 17 minutes before radar contact was lost.
Preliminary investigation found the wreckage dispersed along a 550-foot path, with the canopy located 1.5 miles from the main site, suggesting a significant in-flight breakup.

According to the preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board, the aircraft was a Van’s Aircraft RV-4. The RV-4 is an experimental aircraft; it is not known if the pilot, the sole person aboard, was also the builder.
