Home-Based Simulator Offers Flight and Race Car Experience

Sim lets users switch controls and race their friends.

If you are one of many pilots who enjoy flying as well as driving fast cars, this simulator game may be something to add to your Christmas list. CXC Simulations’ Motion Pro II provides the versatility of experiencing fast vehicles on the ground and in the air. Best of all, the company says the simulator can be reconfigured from driving mode to flight mode in as little as two minutes. So after you practice a few landings you can get on a racecourse and drive your heart out.

The Motion Pro II can be configured with three large-sized screens displaying panoramic visuals that are taken from high-resolution satellite imagery, providing the user with a realistic view from the cockpit. You can also race your friends whether you are in the same room or connect online.

The simulator is not FAA approved for flight training or logging purposes. All you need to transform the Motion Pro II from driving mode to flight mode is the optional Combat Flight Pack, which adds $3,200 to the cost of the system. The equipment allows you to select from a variety of commercial airliners, fighter jets and general aviation airplanes and fly to and from any airport in the world, CXC says. If you are a helicopter pilot you can also play, but you need to add a collective for an additional $3,500.

The standard version costs $49,000 with a single screen display while a Pro system starts at $81,060. The panoramic display adds another $9,000 and there are many options to customize the simulator with different shifters, control wheels, panels and more.
