Approval paves way for veterans to complete the program under the GI bill.

All American Helicopters recently received approval from the FAA and the Veteran’s Administration for the school’s Part 141 helicopter ATP course, clearing the way for veterans to use their GI bill to complete their rating at the school.

With the new clearance, veterans covered by the bill can now receive 25 hours of flight time with an instructor, as well as 40 hours of ground instruction at All American Helicopters. The approval applies to both the Montgomery and Post 9-11 GI bill, and covers all parts of the ATP training program except for the check ride.

According to American Helicopters, located in Denton, Texas, the school’s ATP program can be completed in as little as two weeks. The company’s website cites the average cost of the program for those not covered by the GI bill as $4,800.

The complete the rating, pilots must have at least 1,200 hours of total time, among other requirements.
