Every day, the team at Aircraft For Sale chooses an airplane that catches our attention because it is unique, a good deal, or has other qualities we find interesting. You can read Aircraft For Sale: Today’s Top Pick at FLYINGMag.com daily.
Today’s Top Pick is a 2022 Aviat A-1C-200 Husky.
The Aviat Husky was first introduced in 1987, designed by Christen Industries as a modern successor to the venerable Piper Super Cub.
After attempts to purchase the rights to the Super Cub proved unsuccessful, designer Frank Christensen set out to build a “huskier” version from a clean sheet. The goal was to retain the Super Cub’s legendary STOL performance while adding more power, higher gross weight, and robust construction.
The resulting aircraft, with its tandem seating, high wing, and steel-tube fuselage, was an immediate success. It became a favorite of bush pilots, ranchers, and government agencies like the U.S. Department of the Interior.
The A-1C-200 model, certified in 2007, represents a major evolution. With only 80 total hours, this aircraft is barely broken in and offers the perfect blend of rugged STOL performance and smooth IFR capability. This is a go-anywhere, do-anything aircraft.
This A-1C-200 is powered by the potent 300 hp Lycoming IO-360-A1D6 engine, paired with a two-blade Hartzell composite propeller. Its performance is further enhanced with factory vortex generators and extended landing gear, making it ready for the largest tundra tires and the shortest, most-unimproved strips. With a useful load of 770 pounds, it’s a capable hauler for remote camping trips or supply runs.

Up front, this Husky features a state-of-the-art Garmin glass panel. The cockpit is built around the Garmin G500Txi PFD/MFD and the GTN 750Xi gps/nav/com. It also includes a GFC 500 three-axis autopilot, G5 backup attitude indicator, and GTX 345R transponder for full ADS-B In and Out. An integrated engine analyzer on the G500 provides precise engine monitoring.
Listed at $399,500, this 2022 Aviat A-1C-200 Husky offers a chance to own a like-new, top-of-the-line utility aircraft that combines legendary STOL ruggedness with a full IFR suite—all without the wait for a new factory build.
