French Air Force Jet Crashes into Nursing Home

Elderly woman killed, others injured.

A French air force jet crashed into a home for the disabled in central France on Wednesday, killing one woman inside and injuring several others.

French media reports said the Alpha Jet trainer crashed in the town of Vouvray at about 5:30 p.m. local time. The two crew members ejected and were unhurt, the air force said.

The 63-year-old resident who was killed had lived at the home for several years, according to French officials. About 75 people lived at the home. The plane hit one of two buildings housing female residents, forcing them to relocate to a new facility.

The jet had been on a night training flight with an instructor and trainee pilot on board, the air force said.
