The NTSB is investigating the crash of a King Air 100 near Libby, Montana, early Wednesday that claimed the lives of the pilot and a passenger.
According to local news reports, employees of Stinger Welding Inc. became concerned when CEO Carl Douglas never arrived for a planned meeting on Wednesday morning. A witness said she heard an airplane fly low over her house near Swede Mountain outside Libby shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
The FAA said the 1980 King Air crashed under unknown circumstances with Douglas at the controls. The wreckage was located near the top of Swede Mountain after a search on Wednesday morning.
The airplane was reportedly flying in from Arizona, where Stinger Welding is based. The NTSB said it has dispatched investigators to the crash site.
