One Aviation has released details for the larger version of the Eclipse jet, the EA700 “Project Canada,” which was first announced last year. The information was revealed at the Eclipse Jet Owners and Pilots Association Annual Convention this week at Amelia Island, Florida.
The twinjet will be more than a foot longer than its smaller sibling with a longer wing, increased fuel capacity, and a bigger cabin. While the EA550 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610F turbofans, One Aviation chose the Williams FJ33-5A-12 for the EA700. The engine has been derated from 1,900 pounds of thrust to just under 1,200 pounds, but this represents a power increase of more than 30 percent over the EA550.
The Williams engines will be able to push the EA700 straight to 43,000 feet, allowing for great range capabilities since it will get to more efficient altitudes quicker. The max cruise speed range is expected to be more than 1,470 nm with NBAA reserves. Hot and high takeoff performance will also be better than initially planned. The target for max cruise speed is 383 knots.
Pilots will enjoy Garmin’s highly acclaimed G3000 flight deck, with three 14.1-inch screens and two touchscreen controllers. The G3000 has multiple options for configuration, allowing pilots to customize the PFD and MFD views with a few quick taps on the screens.
