The deal increases the number of the special operations variant of the Boeing heavy-lift helicopter under contract to 42.

According to reports, an Army Delta Force command unit was on board the Chinook at the time of the incident.

The MH-47G Block II Chinooks will be built for the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command as part of a $246.48 million contract, Boeing said.
