August 02, Avalon, Calif. / Beech Baron

At 1415 Pacific time, a Beech 58TC crashed after aborting a landing on runway 4 at Catalina Airport. Both occupants were killed. According to the airport operations supervisor, the sky would clear enough for pilots to see the airport, and then the sky would become overcast again in a moment. Two airplanes that landed prior to the accident airplane used runway 22 after circling the airport for 20 minutes. Sky conditions became obscured for runway 22 and the accident airplane circled to land on runway 4. The supervisor said the pilot came in fast and hot and he advised the pilot to go around. July 09, Mesa, Ariz. / Beech Baron

At 1914 mountain time, a Beech 95-B55 landed hard on runway 22L at Falcon Field Airport, collapsing the right main landing gear. The pilot was not injured. A special weather report was issued four minutes earlier, showing the winds at 150-degrees at 18 knots, gusting to 28; with blowing dust. Controllers advised the pilot of the winds four times during the approach. The pilot said he touched down and the airplane was caught by a gust of wind. He added power to go around and was slammed back down on the runway….

Aug. 13, Panacea, Fla. / Beech B-58 Baron

At about 17:30 EDT, a Beech Baron crashed while landing at Wakulla County Airport. The pilot was killed and a passenger suffered minor injuries. A pilot who landed on runway 18 at Wakulla County about 20 minutes before the accident said he could see a thunderstorm fast approaching the field from the west. Light rain began sprinkling the airport just before the accident, and the wind shifted from the south to the north. The accident aircraft landed downwind on runway 18, touched down about half-way down the runway, and skidded off the end, through a chain-link fence and into a thicket of oak trees….

Dec. 9, Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. / Beech Baron

At about 17:27 EST, a Beech 58TC struck a house in Hasbrouck Heights, killing the four aboard the aircraft and giving minor injuries to two people on the ground. The flight was en route from Hanover County Municipal Airport to Teterboro Airport. Upon arrival in the New York metropolitan area, the pilot requested a visual approach but New York Approach did not approve the request. The controller instead cleared him for the VOR/DME-A approach. The controller then handed him off to Teterboro Tower, which told the pilot he was number seven for landing. Jan. 21, Mexia, Texas / Beech Baron

At 17:30 CST, a Beech 95-B55 crashed while maneuvering in the traffic pattern at Limestone County Airport. The pilot was killed. Two witnesses said the pilot radioed that he was on downwind and then on base for runway 18. The pilot then said he didnt have a green gear light but that the mechanical indicator was showing the nose gear extended position. The pilot asked the witnesses to examine the gear as he flew by. He passed over the runway at about 200 feet and a very slow airspeed. The pilot then added power and began to climb, but did not add much power. Another witness saw the Baron make a very steep turn to the left and spin to the ground 1.5 miles southeast of the airport….

At 19:48 CDT, a Beech 58 made a wheels-up landing at the Decatur Airport. The pilot was not injured. According to his written statement, he reached for the gear handle but for some reason I must not have selected gear down. The pilot said he did not notice the gear was not down until the airplane settled on its belly. No pre-accident mechanical problems were found….

At 1659 mountain time, a Beech 58P crashed during a go-around attempt at Jeffco Airport. The pilot and his passenger were not injured. The pilot said he was landing on runway 11L when a crosswind gust struck the aircraft. He decided to go around and applied full power amd raised the landing gear. The airplane continued to settle onto the runway, then slid off the left side….

At about 11:30 eastern time, a Beech BE-58 was damaged during a hard landing at Greenwood Lake Airport. The two occupants were not hurt. During the landing flare to runway 24, the airplane dropped about 30 feet onto the pavement with the nose cocked about 30 degrees to the left. The left main landing gear tire blew and the airplane veered off the left side of the runway. The airplane rolled through the grass until hitting a parked airplane about 400 feet from the runway….

June 8, Erie, Pa. / Beech Baron

At 22:35 eastern time, a Beechcraft BE-55 crashed two miles short of runway 24 at Erie International Airport. The pilot sustained minor injuries. That day the pilot had flown from Erie to Dunkirk, N.Y. and Concord, N.C., then flew back to Dunkirk and was returning to Erie when the accident occurred. The pilot said he did not visually check the fuel level in either tank prior to departing on the final leg and relied on the fuel gauges. As he approached Erie, the left fuel gauge was showing empty, so he positioned the fuel selector to what he thought would feed fuel from the right tank to both engines. Sept. 9, Brookhaven, Miss. / Beech Baron

At about 10:26 central time, the pilot of a Beech 58P crashed while circling to land during a VOR/DME-A approach to a runway at the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Airport, killing the pilot and passenger. The pilots father and brother, both of whom are pilot-rated and were at the airport, the airplane flew over the runway at about 500 to 600 feet agl on the downwind leg with gear and flaps extended. As it reached the approach end of runway 22, the airplane started banking to the left until it was banked 70-75 degrees. The airplane then pitched nose down and crashed….
