Heli-Expo 2020 Set to Showcase the Latest in Rotorcraft

Helicopter Association International’s annual show is in Anaheim January 27-30.

The annual Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo will take place in Anaheim, California, from January 27 to 30, 2020. Several new aircraft, plus avionics and other features, are set to debut at the show, which covers more than 1 million square feet of space and 700-plus exhibits.

The event kicks off on January 27 with pre-show working group meetings and professional development. On Tuesday, January 28, a membership meeting takes up the morning—until the exhibit hall opens at 10 am. Exhibits will be open on January 29 and 30 as well. New entrants in the eVTOL space exemplify the investment being made by big players in the automotive and aerospace industries. On the avionics and cabin systems side, participants can look forward to news such as the debut of the Honeywell Primus Epic in Leonardo’s AW139—while BendixKing demonstrates its Airwork series planned to give new life to older helicopters.

One feature of the event are the series of Rotor Safety Challenge Sessions that intend to promote a wide range of safety topics pertinent to the rotorcraft industry. An example: the session “Autorotations: Reality Exposed,” will be presented on January 29 by Tim Tucker, safety officer for Robinson Helicopter Company and Scott Tyrrell, with the FAA—and it takes on one of the most talked-about emergencies in helicopter flight. Other topics include maintenance, fatigue, and how to “fly neighborly” in rotorcraft.
