Embraer Signs Deal to Bring Air Taxis to Asia-Pacific Region

Brazilian aerospace company agrees to pact with aviation taxi company Ascent.

Embraer and Ascent have announced a deal that could bring air taxis to the Asia-Pacific region in 2026.

Under the agreement, Eve Urban Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer, will provide Ascent, an aviation taxi booking platform, with 100 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs). With 100,000 hours of allocated flying time each year, Accent plans to serve five cities in as quickly as five years:

  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Manila
  • Singapore
  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Melbourne, Australia

“Ascent is one of the greatest players of urban air mobility in Asia Pacific and its strong presence in the region makes it an ideal partner for Eve’s operations,” Andre Stein, president and CEO of Eve Urban Air Mobility, said in a release.

“The region holds a massive demand for transportation disruption that can be filled with our low-emission aircraft. This is the right recipe for sustainable growth.”

Currently, the Ascent platform is used to book helicopters, but the company has had long-time plans to expand to eVTOLs.

“Eve’s innovative technology, combined with its manufacturing expertise and global servicing footprint through Embraer, comfort us in bringing a solution fitting the region’s complex requirements,” Lionel Sinai-Sinelnikoff, founder and CEO of Ascent, said in a statement.

“With Ascent operating system onboarding Eve’s fleet and connected to Eve’s [urban air traffic management], air operator partners will be empowered to elevate [urban air mobility] operations at scale.”

This agreement is the latest in a trio of deals Eve has entered into in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the Eve program signed an agreement with Kenya Airways to develop an urban air mobility strategy for East Africa along with Fahari Aviation.

In late July, the company entered an agreement with Flapper, another on-demand private aviation platform, to develop urban air mobility in Latin America. In that deal, Eve agreed to provide Flapper with 25 eVTOLs and 25,000 hours of air time each year to service:

  • Sao Paulo, Brazil
  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Belo Horizonte, Brazil
  • Santiago de Chile, Chile
  • Bogota, Columbia
  • Mexico City, Mexico
