DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase Pushes to 2021

The Florida event will move to late January.

The DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase in DeLand, Florida, has pushed its planned event from November 2020 to January 2021 in light of ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The show positions itself as the first event on the 2021 calendar, for both sport aviation and general aviation in total.

“We wanted, upon receiving word of the postponement of the November show, to look at late January for a new show date, but had to be sure that we were reasonably free of conflicts, would still field the necessary resources, and have a weather prognosis to support the event,” said DSAS leader Jana Filip, after deliberation with key volunteers, suppliers, and partners. “And we do. We are now happy to confirm January 28 to 30, 2021, as the new event date for the 2021 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase.”

The event staff has worked with local and regional health officials to coordinate “a number of programs and assets for DSAS21 that will endeavor to keep everyone as healthy as possible,” according to a press release from the showcase. The 2019 event reported $2 million in sales and services, with an economic impact to the community of an additional $1.5 million. This will be the fifth year for the showcase, which now takes the reins in the light sport world following the denouement of the US Sport Aviation Expo at Sebring, Florida, announced in May 2019 after cancellation of its January 2020 event—long before the effects of the pandemic became a factor.
