Video: Tracking 24 Hours of U.S. Air Traffic

NATS animation shows 24 hours of flight in busy U.S. airspace.

UK’s air traffic control provider, NATS, which created the very cool and mesmerizing videos tracking flight paths in some of the busiest airspaces in Europe, has hopped across the pond to bring us another video in their series of 24-hour data visualizations.

This time, NATS partnered with FlightAware to show air traffic patterns over the United States and highlight the busiest airports, like Chicago O’Hare International. According to NATS, it was recently reported that around 2 million passengers in the United States board over 30,000 flights every day, and during the day about 60,000 people fly over the country every hour.

Check out the short animation to spot some of the peak times and familiar paths you might recognize.
