For those of you who’ve never stepped foot behind the controls of one of the big boys, ever wonder what it’d feel like to land one in some heavy crosswinds? Then check out this video, which captures a close-up shot of a Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 landing in Calgary, Alberta, last month in Chinook winds reportedly gusting up to 80 mph.
The winds gave the man behind the camera some trouble holding on to his camera, but the short 40-second clip still gives a clear view of the airliner crabbing into the wind all the way until just before moment of touchdown. Looks pretty smooth, but hey, the aircraft did have a bit of weight going for it.
