SAFE Raffling P-51 Flight of a Lifetime

Organization offers chance to fly iconic WWII fighter.

Have you ever dreamed of settling in behind the controls of the legendary P-51 Mustang and putting the iconic fighter through the same maneuvers as a WWII pilot? The Society of Aviation Flight Educators (SAFE) is raffling a one-hour flight in The Little Witch, a dual-control Mustang owned by Stallion 51 in Kissimmee, Florida. Tickets cost $20 for the drawing, to be held on March 31, 2012. All proceeds benefit SAFE and sales will be limited to 2,000.

The lucky raffle winner will start his or her adventure with a preflight briefing including a mission profile created based on pilot input and experience. Next, the winner will strap into the cockpit of the fully restored P-51, where he or she will do the majority of the flying—from basic maneuvering to high-performance, high-speed aerobatics. The experience will be added to the pilot’s logbook during a post-flight briefing that will include a review of video shot during the flight by a state-of-the-art, onboard camera system.

SAFE is a member organization of aviation educators whose goal is to “foster professionalism and excellence in aviation through continuing education, professional standards, and accreditation.”
