Gulfstream Receives Flying’s Editors’ Choice Awards

Robert Goyer delivers two awards to Gulfstream.

Last week at the NBAA Convention static display at Henderson Executive Airport outside Las Vegas, Flying Editor-in-Chief Robert Goyer took the opportunity to visit Gulfstream’s exhibit for a special delivery. For the first time in the history of Flying‘s Editors’ Choice Awards, one company has earned awards for not one but two products, in this case the recently certified G280 and G650 business jets.

Goyer handed over the awards to Gulfstream’s senior vice president of marketing and sales, Scott Neal and vice president of communications Steve Cass right in front of the airplanes at the exhibit. First was the super-midsize G280, which features great range capabilities, up to 3,600 nautical miles, speeds as fast as Mach 0.85 and Gulfstream’s PlaneView280 glass cockpit, which includes HUD and EVS.

The group then moved over to the G650. With a top speed of Mach 0.925, the G650 is currently the fastest certified airplane in the business and it recently set an around-the-world speed record for a non-supersonic airplane, circling the globe in 41 hours and 7 minutes. This business jet is not only a speedster; it also beat out the competition in range capabilities, with a max range of 7,000 nautical miles. Like the G280, the G650 features a HUD and EVS-equipped glass cockpit branded PlaneView II.

The attached video shows Goyer’s presentation in front of the G650.
