FBO Spotlight: US Aviation (KDTO)

Flying reader Mike Woods received nothing but great Southern hospitality from this Texas FBO.

In our FBO Spotlight series, we’re highlighting FBOs around the country that have received rave reviews from our readers. This latest Spotlight is brought to you by Mike Woods, who recently flew into Denton Municipal Airport in a C55 Baron. Here’s what he has to say about one of the airport’s FBOs, US Aviation.

“Recently we flew to Denton, Texas, in our C55 Baron and decided to use the US Aviation Services FBO. We had called ahead for a crew car and had given them our ETA. Ground control told us to look for the line person who was directing us to a Rock Star parking place on the ramp. Once the engines were shut down, a red carpet was put down for us and cones were placed around the plane to protect it. Before we could exit the plane an almost new crew car pulled up to the plane.

The line crew, which is headed up by Darren Domek, was one of the most friendly you can find. When we returned, they halfway scolded us for not using their code so we could pull the car next to the plane. We had brought some food with us, so they immediately gave us a beautiful conference room to use. They also have popcorn, great cookies and some other liquid refreshments for their visitors. A friend who met us there needed to go to another area on the airport and they insisted on driving him there in their golf cart and wanted to wait for him. I don’t think you can run into a more friendly and helpful FBO. Oh, and their 100LL was very reasonable.

They told me that they are also home to US Aviation Academy. They have around 200 students, with around half coming from 19 different countries. Not only are they training in fixed wing, but also rotary wing aircraft. If you are going to be in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop there. Maggie Severen is the receptionist and she is as nice as they come. I think in Texas they may say something like ‘You all come back, now.'”
