The National Business Aviation Association will for the first time host Build A Plane's Teachers' Day at the upcoming annual Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, set to take place in Las Vegas October 22 through 24. The Teachers' Day will be incorporated into the Careers in Business Aviation Day, sponsored by Honeywell, on October 24.

The Build A Plane Teachers' Day is geared toward high school teachers and uses aviation as a platform to teach science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects. "Today's students respond to real-world applications, and aviation really captures their attention," said Lyn Freeman, president and founder of Build A Plane.

The keynote speaker for the event is former NASA astronaut Bonnie Jeanne Dunbar. Other speakers representing a wide spectrum of the aviation industry will also be featured, and educational materials from aviation organizations such as the FAA, AOPA, EAA and the National Air and Space Museum will be provided for the attendees. Teachers will also be eligible for one graduate credit from Viterbo University.

The Career in Business Aviation Day is complimentary and includes free attendance to the convention halls. While Build A Plane Teachers' Day is geared toward educators, the Career in Business Aviation Day also includes information and sessions about business aviation for high school and college students. Registration is available through the NBAA website.
