A half-fuselage of an SR22. Note the parachute harness strap channel running along the side and then under the pilot-side door.

Certain areas are beefed up while the fuselage parts are in a jig. The flange surrounding the fuselage, used to hold the part to the jig, will be trimmed off later.

A good look at the beveled firewall in the new G-model Cirrus airplanes. The bevel not only makes the airplane more aerodynamic; it makes it more crashworthy, too, by allowing it to slide over obstacles that would otherwise bring it to a sudden stop.

Firewall-forward assembly completed, SR22s will soon get control surfaces and cowlings. First, however, come the doors. Cirrus keeps careful track of the dimensions of the opening as the airplane moves along the assembly line, so that door installation can be quickly accomplished.

** **This '22 (check out the six-cylinder engine) has been given TKS leading edges. As the airplanes move along the line, they get the options their new owners have specified.****

Almost ready for the paint shop, this SR22 is outfitted with the white prop but chrome spinner, a very popular choice among '22 buyers.

Painted, pretty and ready for test flying. When that's done, the appliqués go on.
