Richard Bach Continues Difficult Recovery

Revered aviator shows positive signs.

Aviation writer and former Flying editor Richard Bach, who was injured in the crash of his SeaRey amphibian in Washington in late August, continues his recovery in a Washington hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

His son, James Marcus Bach, reports on his Twitter feed that his father still has trouble speaking, though there are good signs. “His philosophical mind,” James Marcus said, “is there and ticking. He is applying his ideas about healing, etc. to himself, now.” He went on later to tweet that his father would likely leave the hospital soon to continue his recovery.

The younger Bach said he hopes that his father’s latest book, “Travels with Puff,” would be published soon. The book is about Bach’s travels in the airplane in which he suffered the accident that hospitalized him.
