ForeFlight Manage App Targets Fleet Users

iPad-based charting app has numerous multi-user enhancements.

For those operators who have several pilots flying for them, or even a changing cast of characters, the use of electronic charts, principally iPad charts, has offered great savings over the past couple of years. Now ForeFlight, which has developed the best selling charting app, ForeFlight Mobile (the winner of a 2011 Flying Editors’ Choice Award) has a new product, ForeFlight Manage, specially geared toward these power users.

ForeFlight Manage will offer all of the capabilities of the personal version but it adds a number of improvements to make life easier for the fleet pilots who use the product, as well as for the ones who manage their apps. Chief among the many improvements are one-click upgrading to add new features, an easier path to add new users (no more software license keys) and enhanced ease of managing multiple company iPads.

Because of its position out in front of the market, ForeFlight found itself in the enviable position of having worked with many flight departments, including those of numerous Fortune 500 companies. “We have learned much about the tools required to successfully manage devices when flight departments or business aviation customer deploying tens or even hundreds of iPads,” said ForeFlight co-founder and principal developer Tyson Weihs, giving his company the experience to launch a product that, Weihs said, “is designed to meet operational efficiency needs,” a term which to flight department managers means fewer hassles and cost savings.
